Where to develop digital photos

http://digital-photo-printing-review.toptenreviews.com/

I came across a useful website comparing all digital photo printing online services. This is exactly what I am looking for.

Wolf Camera

Wolf Camera uses archival paper/inks so your pictures will last a long time.

Ask for Flat finish since the default is glossy.

Club Photo:

Offers a 4XD size, 4 x 5.33 inches which maintains 3:4 aspect ratio. Costco crops to 3:2.

Winkflash

The absolute cheapest is Winkflash at .12 per print and .99 for flat rate print shipping (I've ordered prints from Winkflash and have been happy with the print quality). Winkflash is not as good as Shutterfly at the ease of site navigation or photo cropping.

Costco

  • They charge about $0.17 per 4x6 print, are fast and easy.
  • Best is go to Costco.. Picture quality is great and they charge only $0.19 per photo for 4x6 and $.67 for 5x7 and you can pick up the photos in few hrs. You can either give them memory card or CD for printing. You may not find anything cheaper and good quality then costco.
  • I'm quite happy with costco. You can either order on line, or you can bring your media to the store. $0.17 per 4x6.

Digital photo tools

IrfanView32:

The thing views everything and has plugins for the stuff that it doesn't. It is basically ImageMagick with lots of handy keyboard shortcuts.

Imagemagick

for batch processing

Jasc PSP 8

for single image processing. Autofilters do a good job and are simple.

If you want to get serious about your colors, you can download a printer profile from drycreekphoto.com for a number of local costco stores (including mountain view) and do color correction yourself.
