My buddy and I got certified at Diver Dan’s in santa clara. I highly recommend our instructor Brian Flack; find out when he’s teaching next.

Wallins Dive Center
My brother took classes from the Wallins Dive Center in San Carlos. He said that they’re great. You can either do a 3-week, two-nights-a-week class, or an intensive all-weekend class. You then follow-up with your open water certification (you need to be certified in order to go diving). You can do the certification with them (they do open water certification in Monterrey), or you can have them schedule something elsewhere if you want to get certified at a vacation spot like the Bahamas.

I have heard good things about this place. have their own pool onsite, etc. I bought some equip from them and they seem very knowledgeable.
