How to get the best deal on a hotel

What I do, at least.

• Check Hotwire for a base rate of hotel prices.

• Check Bidding For Travel. Henry showed me this years back and it's changed my life. It's basically a bunch of people who list their winning Priceline bids, so you get a sense of the minimum bid you can make to get the hotel type you want. It takes a bit of reading to understand how to game Priceline, but it's worth it.
