Delancey Street Movers

Received many recommendations.

  • We've used Delancey Street Movers twice now and plan to use them again this fall. They are based in the city and the workers have completed the alcohol rehab program and this is their job as a reintroduction into the community again. They've always had reasonable bids and been conscientious and responsive. If you tip them, the money goes to the non-profit organization…the workers won't take it otherwise. It's a great way to get a good, inexpensive move and contribute to society at the same time!
  • Delancey street, i'm sure you've heard, is GREAT. 415-512-5110. excellent non profit with all proceeds going back to their cause. we have used them at least a half dozen times and found them to be diligent, hard working, on time, and very thorough. we've never had a single problem despite needing to move fragile things, antique furniture, and lots of computer / stereo equipment.
  • Delancey street movers. Came highly recommended to me, and I can second the recommendation emphatically. They're SF based but will probably come down to move you if you have them pack your stuff also.
  • I've never used them since they were always booked, but everyone I know absolutely raves about Delancey Street. They don't accept tips either which can save you an extra 10-15%.

TI Moving

  • I just used TI Moving. They were good and reasonably priced. They ask you to provide list of things you are moving via email (timoving@yahoo.com) and give quote based on that, distance, floor etc. I had significantly underestimated the amount of boxes I would generate, they were not happy at first, but they ended up only charging me the higher end of the price they had quoted!!!! I was expecting they would charge more, needless to say they got a nice tip. They also gave me notice when they were running late (about 1 hr). Would definitely recommend them.

The movers name is Mike, their numbers are 408-578-5934 / 408-568-0708.

  • TI moving ( timoving@yahoo.com ) is cheap and best but some times not on time. They might come at

scheduled time or might be 4-5 hours late :-(

  • Me and few others have used them and we all like their service. Low price and good job.
  • Try timoving.com, reasonable and professional.

We use Piedmont Moving Systems for our trade shows and other white glove moves here. They just finished moving my sister-in-law...excellent job.

Mike's Moving

1346 E. Taylor St., San Jose (408) 286-5552 (800) 609-9999

A couple have used Mike's Moving for local moves, and had great experiences with them, but they were more expensive for my move.

Excel Movers

Zhangs Moving Company

(415) 661-7762 (408) 266-0888 They charge $95 an hour for 3 movers. They basically will do whatever you ask them to do, including taking furniture apart, etc.

Vlad

Vlad does moving and has moved me twice now: gotvlad@comcast.net

Strong and fast! They (two men) moved me out of a two bedroom and into another two bedroom in two hours (one hour each)! Also nice and trustworthy, and Vlad and are I friends now.

DesiMovers

We used DesiMovers and were reasonably happy with them. They charge a min of $250 for 3 hours and 3 movers. They moved all our stuff safely, but did try to drag our moving out to the 4th hour :) (an extra $75) even though we were very well organized with our boxes, etc.

Nevil

Try Mike (I think) Palos with Nevil moving and storage. They've moved me twice and did a great job.

South Valley Movers

We just moved all the stuff from our two bedroom townhome into storage, and hired South Valley Movers, out of Los Gatos. They also recently moved my brother and sister in law, and did a great job for us both. They referred the movers to us, and we were very happy with the job they did.

We packed everything ourselves, but they did pack all pictures/framed pictures, and they wrapped our bed in plastic for storage. We were happy - the rate seemed fine - it was a four-hour minimum, I think, for weekend work.

I don't have the number handy, but I bet you'll find them in the Yellow Pages or online.

ACE Relocation

ACE Relocation was superb for us

Hansen Smylie

I highly recommend Hansen Smylie.

I moved last summer within Santa Clara (1.5 miles) from a town home to a house.

Our realtor recommended them. Reasons I liked them:

  • We had gotten a very short arrival window (8am to 9am); somebody knocked on our door at 7:30am
  • they brought tons of help
  • we originally were just going to use them to move the heavy stuff, and we'd move all the small boxes. The move was going so well, that they (without even being asked) started loading all the small stuff too.
  • they didn't break anything
  • they were very polite and courteous

I believe the total job was less than $1000 (including tip, and we tipped them very well).

Silicon Bay Movers

I can't guarantee them, but I've moved with them twice and had great experiences both times. They are nice, reasonably priced, honest, and professional.

Moving Solutions Inc.

I just used Moving Solutions Inc. last week and they were great - very courteous and conscientious. I would totally recommend them. The guy I worked with was Abriam Guevara (abriam@movingsolutionsinc.com) at (408)920-0110.

CAREFUL MOVERS

"Your Partners in Moving" 818 Main St. Ste. #G, Pleasanton, CA 94566; Tel: (925) 485-4200; Fax: (925) 485-1700;

Last year, I had a good experience also with Careful Movers. I did try to use them again for this second move over the weekend, but they were booked. Note: they did not charge any money up front to book a move and they unloaded everything before I had to settle bill.

Unisource

I used Unisource to go down to LA, but they do local moves too. They just delivered my things this morning, so I haven't unpacked to see if everything made it in one piece, but overall the experience was GREAT, and they were way cheaper than the other people I called. I checked their references, checked their BBB status, and everything looks good.

All Reasons Moving

We used All Reasons Moving last august for our move. They were extremely friendly, fast and caring with our possessions. Also if you pay in cash you get 10% off.

Acme Moving

This guy was great. He moved us in February. Very reasonable and reliable.
