Recommended Feeding Gear
Sorry, these may be TMI for single folk but whatever.
- Feeding Pillow: My Brest Friend or Boppy. We used both (even me, when bottle feeding), I think we ended up using the Boppy more in the end.
- Bottles: Avent. Jieun might disagree, I dunno. And we also use the Playtex VentAire bottles. But what I like about the Avent system is they have 4 stages of nipples, so you get better regulation of the flow. At the level she's at now (the highest), it comes out really fast and she's least frustrated. When we use Avent, she's able to just down it; she's happy, I'm happy.
- Formula: Similac Organic. This isn't a recommendation really, it's just the one we tried that she takes to. I have no idea if organic for formula is worth it, but yeah. She also liked Earth's Best, but it's freaking expensive. All I really know is she hated the Target brand, which was a total waste.
- Nursing Cover: Hooter Hiders. All these double entendres with feeding stuff is uncomfortable at first, but you get numb to it. Anyway, this thing is brilliant. Covers baby up for feeding in public, but there's a ring at the top that holds it open for mom to see.
Recommended Diapers
We started off with Pampers in the hospital, then switched to Huggies, it being more frequently available (especially at Costco). Pampers almost never leaked. Huggies frequently leaked. So we switched back to Pampers and have been happy with it ever since.
It has been suggested that Pampers is better for girls, Huggies adequate for boys. But then some boys' parents say Pampers is better even for boys. My experience with Huggies is fairly negative, so I'm sticking with Pampers.
Getting the best deal
I've come around on getting it at 1-800-Diapers. Strictly speaking, it's cheapest when it's on sale at Pak-N-Save with a coupon, but 1-800-Diapers takes coupons as well, as well as referral credits, and it's pretty convenient to get it shipped to your door. So we're a Pampers from 1-800-Diapers family all the way.

Other Recommended Stuff
- Lotion: Aquaphor. OK, so we had no clue what we were doing at first, and we never put on lotion. Predictably, she had bad skin, baby eczema and all that. Lorraine told us to put on lotion, in particular Aquaphor, and it worked wonders. But seriously, how were we supposed to know we should use lotion? I thought babies had sensitive skin.
- Swaddling blanket: Miracle Blanket. We tried a few things, a normal blanket, some other ones, but this was the best one by far. Watch the instructional video on that site also. The tighter, the better. I'd also recommend The Happiest Baby On The Block. Just, a good book that makes a lot of sense and they stuff they said worked.
