Dr. Ella Factoravich

Went to Dr. Ella Factorovich in San Francisco 4 years ago. Experience was excellent and haven't had any problems beyond the standard occasional dryness. Was recommended to her by my optometrist and was impressed by her past client list (pro football players, celebrities, etc)

did a quick search and found one interesting article:

Dr. Scott Hyver

Pacific Eye Associates

I had my custom lasik performed in SF by Dr. Karen Oxford, of Pacific Eye Associates. I'm ~10 months post op and have had zero side effects (no night vision problems, etc).

(2 recs) I had PRK approx 2 years ago. I went to Furlong Vision in Campbell. My results are great and I really liked Dr. Furlong. The whole facility was really friendly and didn't have that "factory" feeling. They were very careful and thorough. I highly recommend!!!!!!

Dr. Scott Hyver

He has a location in SF and one in Santa Clara, but you want the site that has the most updated laser.

Dr. Manche

Stanford Eye Laser Ctr. (kind of pricey but very good)

Dr. Mark Mandel

  • I had mine done with Dr. Mark Mandel 4 years ago. It was a good experience.
  • I got LASEK which is very like PRK except with a quicker recovery time by Dr. Mark Mandel of Optima Ophthalmic Associates - 1-510-886-3937. Many other people as well as friends outside of the company have had their eyes done with him. He's very conservative in his approach (why I had LASEK instead of LASIK - two others went through lengthy dry eye avoidance preparation periods) and educated me thoroughly. When we had offices near Affymetrix, the word on the street was that everyone there would go to him as he has the most experience and latest equipment. He has an office in San Jose as well as in Hayward, so either location is acceptable. It was nowhere near cheap, but I've been very pleased with my decision.

Dr. Newman

Newman Lasik is in Sacramento - he's good too.

These guys never tried to sell me anything. They emphasized all the things that were included with the service. I had Lasik done.

Dr. Folker

(Sunnyvale) doesn't perform that actual procedure. He conducts the initial screening to make sure you qualify. The center he refers his patients too was great. I don't remember the name though. You can call and ask. I was happy with their services. There are actually quite a few who have had their lasik procedures done through him. I've heard of other places that were less expensive, but you don't want to bargain with your eyes! ;)

Mixed

Dr. Kawesh

  • I actually know Dr. Kawesh, and he is quite good. My wife also had him perform lasik on her eyes. I believe he is one of the pioneers in the field.
  • I was impressed with Dr. Kawesh because he did send me away as I was a marginal candidate. Some places operate anyway. I consider that a very good sign.
  • DO NOT TO GO to Dr. Kawisch!
