Dr Scott Plank

Recommended for knee therapy by knee surgeon. Known to be the best in the area.
Sport Medicine Institute
Palo Alto
Orthopedic Sports & Spine Rehabilitation Center
Palo Alto
- I highly recommend Johan Lamens in the Orthopedic Sports and Spine Rehabilitation Center (Palo Alto, near El Camino/Page Mill). 650 852-1228. He only takes referrals though; you can't just turn up. I had (still have) a herniated disk in my lumbar region: it had been getting worse over the years, and had reached the point where I was pretty much incapacitated for 2 weeks out of 12; I'd tried a couple of physical therapists with no obvious benefit, but Johan worked wonders with very targeted stretching and a small amount of massage. He seemed to know exactly where to push and exactly which exercises I needed to do to help him; although I'm not very good about keeping the exercises up, I hardly ever get any back pain any more. He's also a very nice chap and a good laugh.
Daniels Therapy
Mountain View
- I went to Daniel's for almost a year for physical therapy. I went for my shoulder but they do everything and are caring and great people. They actually have a guy on the staff that works with the San Jose Sabercats. The staff there is amazing and knowledgeable. it is right off of 237 near the El Camino Hospital. You get your own physical therapist. They will work with you the whole time. Your initial visit will probably last an hour. They need to get acquainted with you and check your flexibility. After that shouldn't be more than 45 minutes. First they will start you off with a few exercises then have you on the table and they will work with you....pending how severe your pain is. After that they usually help stretch you out and massage the effected area (big plus!) and finish you off with ice.
- I had a very good experience with Ron Daniels of Daniels Therapy. Services in Mountain View after I had shoulder surgery. The first few sessions were half an hour to 45 minutes because I could barely move my arm. As things progressed, I was able to do more exercises, etc., and some of the longer sessions were a couple hours. Once or twice I'd done something I shouldn't have, and the subsequent sessions were again very short. If I ever had a time constraint, I'd just let him know when I arrived and he did a great job respecting it.
Kit Reitman
Menlo Park
- If my memory serves me correctly, Kit Reitman in Menlo Park was good (I know that I went to a good physical therapist; I'm just not 100% sure of the name) ... she and her partner fixed my upper back that was ruined from having a mal-adjusted desk. This was about 8 years ago, so things might have changed. As I recall, it was something like 2-3 months ... mainly massage / electro-therapy plus some exercises plus a class on how to not mess it up again.
Quinn
Cupertino
- My wife was a part time (she just had a baby) PT at a clinic named Quinn in Cupertino. The quality of care there is great, each PT spends a full 45 min with each patient (which isn't always the case at a clinic.)
