I’m sorry, but last night’s attempt at fics-chat madness was seriously weak. Maybe Dave can elaborate, but I feel like I need to teach these people what you need for good fics-chat madness.

  • A critical mass of people. There was not last night.
  • At least a little bit of wit.
  • Most critically, value add. Volume is good, but you need to have a little bit of value in each post. Add random references. If you recall, the John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt – that’s my name too reference got a lot of mileage from different people last time. Stuff like that. But you can’t just post nonsensical stuff and expect people to hop on the bus. You need substance, value. If that doesn’t work, you have to play the bawdy angle.

But I applaud the heart.
