In early Hebrew, there were no numbers, so they used letter combinations to represent numbers (same with early Greek). So words can have numerical values. Some interesting things with this: the numerical value of the Hebrew word for “ladder” is the same as that for “Sinai”. So maybe there’s a parallel between Jacob’s ladder to heaven and the Ten Commandments from Sinai, another ladder to heaven.
Also, the word for pregnancy in Hebrew has the numerical value 271, which is the number of days in a normal pregnancy. Fascinating.
