Danny ChaiI’ve said this many times, but I much prefer the Tex-Mex in Houston to any Mexican food in the Bay Area. I’ll go far as to say I can’t think of I single non-national-chain Mexican restaurant in the Bay Area that I love. Actually no, the burritos here are pretty good, like at La Costena. But other than burritos, not a huge fan of Bay Area Mexican.
I was reminded of this while eating a mediocre crab enchilada recently. Such a waste of perfectly good crab. It really made me crave the seafood or spinach enchiladas at Tortuga in Houston, which is weird, because I haven’t eaten there in years. And it’s not that it’s the best in the world. It’s just better than anywhere in the Bay Area.
