It’s interesting how I read things in clusters. Sugarshock posted an interesting entry about trying to get pregnant, then almost immediately after, an issue of Newsweek shows up on diet and fertility, then Christianity Today comes out with a cover story on infertility. Kind of weird timing.

Same thing happened with Zimbabwe a while back. It was our church’s prayer focus one Sunday. In the weeks prior, there seemed to be a flurry of news about Zimbabwe. It most frequently makes the news because its leader, Robert Mugabe, is on everyone’s short list for worst dictators in the world (the villain in the movie The Interpreter, which I liked more than other people, is pretty much based on him). But things seem to have gotten worse and more newsworthy lately, with inflation at a percentage in the thousands. I’ve also seen more reports in CT of him increasing persecution of churches, probably because of the economic problems, trying to find a scapegoat.

Then the week before being the prayer focus, I find out that a (Jewish) coworker’s dad was raised in Zimbabwe. And Newsweek runs a fairly long obituary for Ian Smith, the first Prime Minister of Zimbabwe who led under white minority rule.

No point, it’s just weird how things cluster like that. Remember when Hollywood would come out with 2 really similarly themed movies at once? I think there was Volcano and Dante’s Inferno, then Deep Impact and Armageddon. Even recently, they had 2 magician movies come out, The Prestige and The Illusionist. There almost never come out with magician movies, then two come out virtually simultaneously? That’s weird.
