I got into the CS co-term program this week. Anyway, it’s all the grace of God. I really do mean that, also, not just trying to say it. Maybe it’s worthwhile to tell how I found out that I was in. A while ago, I got an e-mail from the department saying I was missing my recommendation and GRE scores. This was like in January. But I was just lazy and whatever so I never took care of it, just kept putting it off. At any rate, days became weeks became month, and even though I knew it would jeopardize my chances of getting in, I still didn’t take care of it because I was lazy. Anyway, I finally get my rear in gear and decide to go to the CS Graduate Admissions Office and see if I could still turn it in.
So I go there and explain that I applied this quarter but was missing stuff, but they’re a little confused, because am I trying to turn in info from this quarter? The deadline was in January! Early January. So they don’t really understand what I’m talking about until they finally realize that I’m talking about this quarter and they say decisions have already been made for this quarter. And my heart skips a beat, and this lady inside asks what the punk’s name is that’s bothering the office, and I tell it, and she says, “You’ve already been admitted. The letter is being sent to your Stanford address.” That was basically the last thing I expected to hear, and when I did, I didn’t think I heard it right, but I was afraid to bother them more, so I just left.
Anyway, I have no idea whether the rec and the scores eventually came in. And that’s the disturbing thing, I just don’t know. I never know. And I don’t take the time to take care of it. I suck. So the grace of God is a wonderful thing.
